Peer Review Process

ALTASIA: Jurnal Pariwisata Indonesia applies a double-blind peer-review process to evaluate the quality, originality, validity, and relevance of manuscripts submitted for publication. The process ensures that published articles meet appropriate academic standards and contribute to knowledge in tourism and related fields.

The peer-review process consists of the following stages:

  1. Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts through the ALTASIA online submission system via Open Journal Systems (OJS). Manuscripts must comply with the journal's Focus and Scope, author guidelines, and article template. Submissions that do not meet the requirements may be returned to the authors without proceeding to peer review.

  2. Initial Editorial Assessment

The editorial team assesses the manuscript's relevance to the journal's scope, originality, academic quality, methodological appropriateness, compliance with submission requirements, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts are also screened for similarity in accordance with ALTASIA's plagiarism screening policy.

  3. Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to one or more reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewer selection considers the manuscript's subject matter, academic qualifications, and research expertise.

  4. Double-Blind Peer Review

ALTASIA applies a double-blind peer-review system in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's originality, relevance, research design, theoretical foundation, methodology, analysis, clarity, validity of conclusions, and contribution to tourism research and practice.

Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to help the editor assess the manuscript and improve its academic quality.

  5. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

    • Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication without further substantive revision.
    • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires limited revisions.
    • Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial revisions and may undergo another round of review.
    • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's academic standards or is unsuitable for publication.

Reviewer recommendations inform the editorial decision but do not determine the final outcome automatically.

  6. Author Revision

When revisions are required, authors must address the reviewers' comments and submit the revised manuscript within the deadline specified by the editorial team. Authors may be asked to provide a point-by-point response. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

  7. Final Editorial Decision

The editor makes the final decision based on reviewers' recommendations, the quality of the revised manuscript, and the journal's editorial policies. The decision may be acceptance, a further revision request, or rejection.

  8. Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to editorial production, including copyediting, formatting, and proofreading, before publication in accordance with ALTASIA's editorial standards and publication ethics policies.

Throughout the review process, editors and reviewers must maintain confidentiality, provide objective and constructive assessments, and disclose potential conflicts of interest. All parties are expected to uphold academic integrity and responsible scholarly publishing.
